(don't think it started will full charge). Performed load test on battery at 40 degrees and battery bounced back 12.2 volts. checked load and with all accesories on and engine idling at approx. seems alternator bearings are whining something fierce. Decided to check into the whine that seems to be getting louder. letting off the throttle, spikes to 20 in (or so) and settles back to 17. hg and drops back to 17 during acceleration. in actuating the throttle there is a momentary drop in vacuum to 10 in. Connected vacuum gauge to the back of the manifold and am getting approx. Left the fuel pressure gauge connected and checked for leak down. Both values are right in line with where they should be. Checked fuel pressure both with fuel pressure regulator connected and not. engine started misfiring at idle intermittently, or at least what felt like misfire. checked that plugs were seated and torqued.

Update ** checked the spark plug boots and all checked out good. So first things first, checking fuel pressure tomorrow. tried to blow through it and could barely get any air through it. Oil is too thin when hot and running out of the HVA? Oh and I decided to test the old fuel filter now that it had dried out. Does anyone know if there is a port in the cylinder head to check oil pressure? I did notice the tick noise seems to be predominately when the engine is hot. we'll see if the flush procedure can fill them. Makes me think that there must be some debris in the HVA's. Assembled the car and started it and the chain must not have been right. Finally got around to pulling the lower timing tensioner and guess what. Voltage regulator appears to still be doing its job. The bearings in the alternator are going it has been confirmed. The synthetic is making quick work of what little debris was in the engine but still have the tick noise. I decided to cut it apart and it was full of what looks like carbon deposits. I remembered and went to pull the old one. So upon the last oil change, super genius forgot to put the new oil filter in. Rough idle is the least on my worry, ticking noise is kind of concerning.Īnd there is no cel and no codes stored (from stomp test) Timing tensioner bad? lack of oil to valve train? Cats bad? Or could this all be caused by the OSV? My first thought is bearing knock (as I am a pessimist) please tell me I am wrong. passengers side, one at 210, rest at 205.

again engine warm WOT.Ĭompression test yesterday drivers bank 190 on all. Passengers side, 1 cylinder at 205, rest in neighborhood of 195. compression test on as arrived engine all cylinders on drivers bank 190 PSI, warm w/ WOT As rpms increase ticking will increase then disappear at approx 2000 rpm. under load ticking is tied to acceleration, however when spirited acceleration tick disappears.

The ticking sounds like passenger side of the engine.

No leaks (At least fluid) (haven't been able to find vacuum leak) fuelįilter needs replacing, again on order. However when the windows are open you hear nothing, OSV needs to be replaced part is on order. Just noticed a ticking noise that can be head in the car with the windows and doors shut while running. Some mornings it fine (when cold), some afternoons its fine.(ambient warm) Rough idle has progressively gotten worse. Here are the list of symptoms and work performed.
